AREX One AR Dive Mask: Features, Technology and Pricing
AREX Innovations Introduces the AREX One AR Dive Mask

AREX Innovations has introduced the AREX One, an augmented reality (AR) dive mask with an integrated dive computer that displays essential information directly within the diver’s field of view. The Kickstarter-backed product is designed for recreational and technical diving, allowing users to monitor dive data without repeatedly checking a wrist-mounted computer. Optional accessories include a tank pressure transmitter, a dive torch and an artificial intelligence-powered marine life identification module. AREX describes the product as the first intelligent AR dive mask developed for recreational and technical divers.

The AREX One retains the general appearance of a conventional dive mask but incorporates several additional features. These include a replaceable silicone skirt, optional prescription lens inserts and a programmable LED bar across the top of the frame. Its display provides information such as depth, decompression data and compass heading, alongside other dive metrics. This allows divers to monitor key information while keeping their attention on their surroundings, equipment or students.

The optional accessories extend the functions of the integrated dive computer. The tank pressure transmitter provides an additional monitoring capability, while the torch attachment adds a lighting option. The AI-powered module is designed to identify marine life. According to the product description, these modules could potentially reduce the need for several separate pieces of diving equipment, including an independent computer, mask or pressure gauge.

A core team of technical divers developed the AREX One with the aim of reducing distractions and making dive information more accessible. The display also incorporates a sensor-based control system that allows users to switch it off temporarily with a shake of the head and reactivate it with a nod. The control is intended to provide an uninterrupted view of the underwater surroundings when the information display is not required. AREX says feedback from test divers has informed every stage of the design process.

The product was initially conceived for commercial, police and technical diving. However, its features have potential applications across other diving disciplines. The marine species identification module is relevant to scientific diving, while the display could allow instructors to monitor students without repeatedly looking away from the group. The optional torch attachment is another feature identified for use in cave diving. The mask’s construction is also intended to accommodate the demands of equipment transport by frequent travellers.

The AREX One’s listed specifications include a personalised LED light bar, Qi wireless charging and a battery life of up to 40 hours. Its frame uses an armour-grade fibre-reinforced polymer and has a stated depth rating of 120 metres. Other specifications include expandable modules, a user-removable silicone skirt, gas mix compatibility and sensor-based controls. The company displayed a model of the mask at DEMA Show 2026, where the product’s hardware and integrated display were presented.

AREX has also outlined its approach to software development and data management. Although the mask incorporates AI-powered features, the company says it does not use artificial intelligence tools for marketing. Each accessory module is designed to operate independently of the core dive computer in both hardware and software. According to AREX, this architecture helps isolate potential faults and simplifies future software updates.

The company also maintains its own servers for collecting and storing user data. AREX says access to this information requires the user’s permission. It also states that third parties do not sift through users’ data. These arrangements form part of the company’s stated approach to managing information generated through the device and its optional modules.

The product comes with a two-year warranty. AREX intends to establish a worldwide network of service centres for maintenance after the warranty period, although it has not announced the proposed locations or associated maintenance costs.

The AREX One is currently available through Kickstarter at a launch price of US 999, approximately €892. The planned retail price is at US1,499 or €1,399. AREX Innovations says it intends to ship the product worldwide following production.
